On the Ladder
It's snowing today - first time this season! They are saying 1-3" - enough to create a nice mood for today.
Linda, Jeff and I are having dinner at the Saratoga Lake Bistro. They do a really nice job for Thanksgiving, and since it's only a 5-minute drive, who cares about the weather? Actually, I enjoy going there to order from the menu - there's something elegant about a restaurant where the language spoken in the kitchen is French.
Started Christmas shopping yesterday. I really need ideas for what to get for Linda.
Had a nice evening with Vera, Marv, Roxy and Glen a couple of weeks ago. That's a neat group - the girls used to team-teach at Sacandaga Elementary School, and that's the main thing that holds us together. But Marv and I did bump into each other at GE a few times, and of course Glen has been at KAPL, and that used to be part of GE also.
Just about finished with the March/April issue of the Magazine, and the galley proof for the January/February issue should be here for review next week. Mark and I visited Piscataway last week to discuss Manuscript Central - we were very pleased with the positive reception that we got. I'm a bit nervous that the cost number are going to be a shock - the solution that Scholar/One has proposed involves an application that is not part of the Manuscript Central package, and that could drive up the cost of using it. Hope not - the proposed solution is really neat and will save everyone a lot of time.
This picture is from the workshop with Ernestine Ruben in September. Joan and I were working with the model in "Mandelbaum's Barn" (I don't know if that's the real name, but it's certainly what we were calling it!). I was very pleased with the way the light fell on the model's body, and also with the way the Adorama (repackaged Ilford) warm-tone paper responded.
