January

Dimples

Ice storm this week - that led to a 22 hour power outage. So far, we have had three prolonged power outages in the last 12 months. I give National Grid a lot of credit for the heroic ways they respond to these events, but it seems to me that they have allowed the population in Saratoga County to transform from rural to suburban without providing the infrastructure upgrades that are needed to support that population growth.

We had our first exposure to Manuscript Central this week. There are a lot of things that need to be fixed, but overall the system looks pretty good.

Did some Pt/Pd printing on Monday (before we lost power). I'm pleased with the results, but the next step is mounting, and my dry-mount press has died. I know what the problem is - the heating element is broken at the point where it connects to the external lead coming in from the thermostat. I think I know how to fix it, and just need to take the time to take it apart to do the job.

Linda and I have made our plans to travel to California next month. I will go to LA on Wednesday, and then meet Linda at the San Jose airport on Friday night. We will spend the weekend with Dave before driving down to Monterrey on Monday. Looking forward to the trip.

The PRC document looks pretty good. We were able to come up with a set of statistics, but unfortunately, they represent only a fraction of the volume that the Society dealt with over the five year period. We said that in the submittal, and it remains to be seen whether that will be a problem.

It's now mid-January, and we still haven't had any real snow. What a winter!

This picture is from our trip out to the Finger Lakes back in June.
