Homage to Rodin

Yesterday, Linda got a phone call in the morning from Steve telling her that she didn't have to come to work, so we quickly regrouped and decided to drive down to Rhinebeck for the day. It was a beautiful fall day - a perfect situation for an outing. We drove down the Thruway to Catskill, across the Rip Van Winkle Bridge, and then down 9G. Stopped at Chermont along the way - it was actually closed but we were able to get into the Visitor's Center for a few minutes, and then walk around the main house.
We continued south, detouring through the Bard College campus (just to see what it looked like), and eventually arriving in Rhinebeck. Had lunch at Terrepin Red Bistro - I had a fish sandwich and glass of Pinot Grigio, while Linda had the veggie burger. Great meal! Walked around Rhinebeck while Linda did some shopping - I found a couple of pictures that I hope will prove interesting. We then drove out to Wilderstein, another historical Hudson River mansion (also closed). Later, we drove across the Kingston-Rhinecliff bridge to get to the Thruway to head home.
While in Terrepin we got into a discussion with a couple who were visiting from Mill Valley, CA - they had flown in yesterday morning and rented a car to drive north to Glens Falls (and perhaps Saranac Lake), and were thinking of stopping in Saratoga Springs on their way back to New York City.
We had a lot of rain in October, and we had frost a couple of times. But the yesterday was warm and sunny - a true Indian Summer day. Upstate New York is a delightful place to live!
Went to SPS this week - my prints didn't fare all that well in competition, but I've come to accept that my vision is not what judges normally want to see. Also did a lot of shooting this week - went to Schuylerville on Monday and to the Albany Riverfront Park on Thursday. Need to develop those negatives, and then spend more time printing.
This image is from the weekend with Ernestine Ruben at Peters Valley. Daria was a wonderful model - as was Steph. Rebecca was also good, but I didn't get to work with her as much as I did with Daria and Steph. The lighting in the upstairs room in Greek was fabulous!
