February Vacation Week

Christ Church, Reformed Posted by Hello

Linda has the week off, so we are mixing activities. On Sunday she got excited about shopping for new bedroom furniture, so we drove over to Bennington to a furniture store that we had heard about but never visited. Saw some nice stuff, but clearly no decisions. Yesterday, we went out to Pattersonville to loook. Found some more nice stuff - now she is trying to decide between cherry and maple. My guess is that she will eventually decide to stay the oak set that we've had for many years. But the process is fun.

Tomorrow (or perhaps Thursday - not fully decided yet) we will be going over to Queechee. Main objective is to have a day trip, with the proximate target to have lunch at Simon Pearce Restaurant. But its a scenic drive on a nice day.

Made a couple of negatives on out trip to Bennington on Sunday. Found a covered bridge that we had driven by a hundred times but never seen, and when we crossed it we found a dam with the remnants of the old wicket gate controller. Captured an image of the controller, and also a wide field image of the bridge and dam. The process was a bit stressful since the controller was on a concrete pedestal, and there was nothing to keep one from falling into the stream about 20 feet below.

I made a new 2-sheet slosher yesterday - I was surprised to see how severely the lens board I made last summer had warped, and was concerned that it might have a light leak, so I wanted to process the film before taking another day trip. Since I didn't want to do two sheets in trays, and I didn't have enough film to justify the six sheet slosher, it seemed appropriate to make a two-sheet version. Since I had all of the material left over from the other project, it only took some time - about an hour - to do the whole thing, and then I was able to use it last night. That is really the way to go in processing sheet film.

This image was done with the old Yashica TLR on Tech-Pan film. Orange filter. I drove up to this church in Pattersonville on a Sunday afternoon - and found it was cloudy and overcast. Turned around and started home, got about two miles down the road when the sun came out. So I turned around again and dashed back. Made an entire roll of exposures.
