A major milestone - today was my last day as a GE employee after almost 36 years. Don't regret a minute of it - met some wonderful people, and have had some amazing experiences (adventures!).
But the time has come to move on. I have too many things that I want to do that I couldn't do if I had to continue to go to work every day.
But retirement doesn't mean that deadlines go away - I have to review the galley proofs for the January issue of the magazine and get them back to FedEx by the end of the day tomorrow. Hey - it's gonna rain so why not stay in the house.

Rainy Sunday
Last couple of days have been very quiet. Jeff and I ran some errands yesterday, and today we did odds and ends around the house. Very wet today.
Got to do some photography. Have a bunch of negatives sitting in the darkroom begging to be printed, and I want to get out and shoot some more. After all, this is really intended as a photoblog.

Black Friday
Went out to Bob's Trees this morning to cut down a Christmas tree. It was cold and snowing lightly. Good thing - sped up the decision process!
Picked up some silicone spray lubricant to use in the snow blower - also a "baton" to dig out frozen slush in the thrower tube.
Carried the camera around all day, but wasn't challenged to make any photographs.
Found the old USAF radar site this afternoon - I recall seeing the domes on the horizon many years ago, and after reading something about the site a week or so ago, I decided to look for it while driving back from Lowes this afternoon. Would be interesting to explore and possibly photograph.

Thanksgiving day - 2004
Very warm this morning - so warm that Linda had to get outside to wash windows. But my 11am we were having thunderstorms and the temp had dropped considerable.
Called Dave - he was up already and about to start making bread for the Thanksgiving dinner with his friends in California. Also finishing arrangements for his trip to China.
As we were talking to Dave, saw two grouse walking across front yard. Neat.
Really looking forward to retirement. Photography will be a big part of what I do, in addition to the technical editing gig.
